What is email quarantine?
Email quarantine is a security feature that holds potentially dangerous or unwanted messages — such as spam, phishing attempts, or messages with malware — so they don’t reach your inbox.

How does email quarantine work?
Potentially harmful messages are identified and moved into quarantine. You can review them at:
https://security.microsoft.com/quarantine

Actions users can take:

• View the message details.
• Release it to your inbox.
• Report it to Microsoft.
• Delete it permanently.

What are banners?
Banners are smart, color-coded alerts that appear at the top of emails to warn you about potential threats like phishing, spoofing, or suspicious links.

How do banners work?
Each banner explains the risk in plain language and includes a “Details” link so you can understand what triggered the warning. You can also use the “Report This Email” option to flag suspicious messages.

To Locate a Missing Email Message

• Check your Junk Email folder.
• Use the Outlook search bar.
• Check quarantined messages here.
• You can request the release of a quarantined message. If deemed safe, it will be sent to your inbox.

To Report a Suspicious Email Message

Use the “Report This Email” link below the banner.

To Add a Safe Sender or Domain

• Open Outlook’s Settings.
• Choose Mail > Junk Mail.
• Choose “Add safe sender”.
• Enter the sender’s email address, then choose “Ok”.
